Message from the Organisers Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen, During this Hair2004-Meeting, you will be updated on recent findings in stem cell research, pigmentation, endocrinology, alopecia areata, hair morphology and cycling, follicular targeting, genetics and gene therapy, as well as hair surgery and epilation. I am convinced that this meeting will deepen our understanding of hair biology and show us future aspects in hair-related research and clinic. We are all aware of the fact that such high-level meetings would never be possible without the help and support of industrial sponsors, therefore, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all our sponsors, who have not only given us their financial support but are also supporting us by their participation in the meeting. Our social highlights will give you the chance to relax: we are looking forward to our Welcome Reception at the“ Museum für Kommunikation”, where you will have the opportunity of meeting your colleagues and friends in a – for Berlin – classical atmosphere. Our Gala Evening, in the Italian Courtyards of the Spandau Citadel, which were designed and built by the Italian architect, Rochus Guerini, Earl of Lynar, in 1580, will take us back into the past. Last but not least, I would like to very warmly thank Dr. Nathalie Mandt and Dr. Annika Vogt, our Congress Scientific Secretaries, as well as all my co-workers, for their help and assistance. Also, I highly appreciate the valuable work accomplished by our congress organizers, DER-CONGRESS. Above all, our gratefulness goes to the numerous participants willing to present their updated investigational and clinical findings on hair and hair diseases, during this meeting. Thank you all! On behalf of the European Hair Research
Society (EHRS) and as President of the 4th Intercontinental
Meeting
of Hair Research Societies, I would like to extend a warm
welcome to all congress participants here in Berlin.
My team and I have endeavoured to make this meeting a milestone
in the “World of Hair”. Judging from the high
number of submitted abstracts, received from colleagues,
worldwide, and the vast sphere of topics presented
from well-known experts and young talented researchers, we
are proud to be able to present a truly intercontinental
meeting. Scientists and clinicians, as well as representatives
of cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies involved
in hair care and treatment, are all joining us in Berlin
today.
