P31 HISTIOCYTIC CYTOPHAGIC  PANNICULITIS  MANIFESTED AS ALOPECIA

László Török, László Krenács, Ágnes Kirschner; Department of Dermatology County Hospital Kecskemét and Pathological Department of Medical University of Szeged (Hungary)

The hystiocytic cytophagic  panniculitis is a lobular panniculitis with a cytophagic  histiocytic infiltration. As a rule the disease has a systemic course and is potentially lethal. The authors present a 45-year old female patient with an isolated form of cytophagic panniculitis affecting the scalp. Multiple foci of alopecia developed as a sequel of a mild inflammation of the scalp, that scarcely caused any complaints. Histology revealed a histiocytic cytophagic panniculitis, that might have developed after a   “burned-out” panniculitic T-cell lymphoma. The authors show a rare, isolated form of cytophagic panniculitis that affects only the scalp and causes alopecia, and emphasize the role of histological study in obscure cases.
