O#04   My management plan of the male patient with androgenetic alopecia

D. Whiting1, D. Van Neste2. 1Baylor Research, Dallas, USA and 2Skinterface, Tournai, Belgium.

The purpose of the authors is to present and defend as barristers their clinical and methodological approaches in view of diagnosis, evaluation, prognosis and treatment of androgenetic alopecia in man. Besides history taking and clinical evaluation of the scalp and hair, some technological approaches will be reviewed. They include real time of scalp coverage scoring (SCS), evaluation of global photographs by a panel of experts, histological analysis of scalp biopsies (serial sectioning and folliculogram technique). The methods and results will be presented at the barr and discussed in terms of their return of information against effort and cost. These approaches will be put in the perspective of the management of the male patient with androgenetic alopecia in the hair clinic and in the context of a clinical trial programme.
