We gained some results through the clinical study of 603
androgenic alopecia patients who visited our Dept of Dermatology
of Chung-Ang University Hospital since January of 2000 to
December of 2001. Following results were obtained: 1) Male
patients (460) were 3.24 times more common than female patients
(143). They are mostly in the twenties (male 222; 48.2%, female
51; 35.7%). 2) In male patients, Norwood class II (129; 28.0%)
was most frequent as opposed to Ludwig class I in females
(97; 67.8%). 3) 308 male patients (67.0%) and 92 female patients
(64.3%) had a positive family history. 4) The most common
accompanying disorder was seborrheic dermatitis (male 262;
57.0%, female 54; 37.8%). 5) Serum testosterone levels were
increased in 45 out of 370 males (12.2%) and 13 out of 95
females (13.7%). Those results were compatible with our previous
study since 1995
