Hair growth measurement in genetic hair disorders
Dominique Van Neste. Skinterface, Tournai,
Belgium
We report data recorded with high resolutive contrast-enhanced
phototrichogram
(CE-PTG) method in a number of genetic hair conditions. Those
include monilethrix, trichorhinophalangeal syndrome, alopecia
triangularis of Sabouraud and Becker's naevus of the scalp.
In all these conditions hair growth appears clinically modified
but the exact disturbance remained largely un-documented.
Our findings illustrate that AGA is not the only field of
application of the CE-PTG. The clinical developement of androgenetic
alopecia in male and in female patients are of course also
genetically conditionned. Due to frequent occurrence of such
conditions, AGA data are usually reported and analysed separately
as statistical tables; we thought that an occasionally very
severely affected young patient might become a case for diagnosis.
