DH-3923 Topical Solution (DH) is a hair growth reagent containing 2%-carpronium chloride with local vasodilatory effect and several kinds of herbal extracts for hair growth. A multicenter open trial was conducted in 86 subjects with male pattern baldness to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DH. Each subject took 2mL of DH twice daily for 24 weeks in this study. Doctors in charge concluded that an overall improvement was 30.2% (26/86). Its rates by Ogata’s hair loss patterns were, 33.3% (5/15) in type-I, 26.7% (4/15) in type-II, 50.0% (5/10) in type-III, 27.3% (9/33) in type- IV, 25.0% (1/4) in type-V, and 22.2% (2/9) in type-VI. Also, its rate by gender showed more significant changes for female than male 26.7% (20/75) in male and 54.5% (6/11) in female. The improvement of combings, subjective impression and photographs were respectively 63.5% (47/74), 13.6% (11/81) and 22.1% (19/86). Four subjects (5 cases) reported adverse reactions. Three of them were mild adverse reactions including, sweating, chill, itching and positive urine glucose and one case with contact dermatitis was moderate. The results confirmed the efficacy and safety of DH for male pattern baldness.
