Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Pantogar® on
hair growth in the patients with female pattern hair loss among Korean women
evaluated by phototrichogram. Method: 61 patients were treated with Pantogar® for
6 months. Before and after treatment, number of total hair and anagen hair,
ratio of anagen/telogen hair in a circle of 1cm diameter were measured by phototrichogram
(BMI plus) using computer-assisted image analysis. Results: (1) The mean age
was 36.8 years. The distribution of the patients’ age was below twenty
in 2/61(3%), twenties in 18/61(30%), thirties in 22/61(36%), forties in 16/61(26%),
and over the fifties in 3/61(5%). (2) The types by Ludwig classification were
type I: most common, 43/61(70%); type II: 17/61(28%); and type III: 1/61(2%).
3) Evaluation of phototrichogram in a circle of 1 cm diameter before and after
treatment: a) Average number of total hair were 47.1 and 52.7(p<0.001).
b) Average number of anagen hair were 29.4 and 33.6(p<0.001). c) Ratio of
anagen/telogen hair was 1.66 and 1.77(p<0.001). Conclusion: These results
suggest that Pantogar® has a favorable effect on hair growth in the patients
with female pattern hair loss among Korean women.
