The idea of constituting the first hair society was launched in London (April, 1989) soon followed by its formal constitution in Brussels (November, 1989). Since then, the European Hair Research Society (EHRS) has had meetings annually in different European Cities. The EHRS also co-organizes international scientific meetings with the North American Hair Research Society, Society for Hair Science Research (Japan), and the Australasian Hair and Wool Research Society. The EHRS continues to grow in numbers and influence. Below is a brief summary of key events in the development of the EHRS.

  • 1989 First and founding meeting of the EHRS in Bruxelles, Belgium, November 11. Organisation: Prof. Dr. Dominique van Neste.
  • 1991 Second Meeting of the EHRS in Bologna, Italy, April 1. Organisation: Prof. Dr. Antonella Tosti.
  • 1992 Third Meeting of the EHRS in Berlin, Germany, October 2 - 3. Organisation: Dr. Ulrike Blume, Dr. Frank Schaart, and Prof. Dr. Constantin E. Orfanos.
  • 1993 Fourth Meeting of the EHRS in Stockholm, Sweden. October 1 - 2, Organisation: Prof. Dr. Bo Forslind.
